The Tasmanian Agricultural Company is a family business that produces Grass-Fed Wagyu that’s good for you and the environment.
We grow beef that’s ‘beyond sustainable’ using non-conventional, regenerative farming practices. We work with Mother Nature to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and store it back in the ground where it belongs.
We don’t simple buy carbon credits as an easy way to offset emissions and claim carbon neutrality. We are committed to a better way of producing food.
In 2019, Tas Ag Co became the first farm in Tasmania to register a soil carbon project through Australia’s $2.5 billion Emissions Reduction Fund. It uses the only soil carbon measuring protocol eligible under the United Nations Paris Agreement.
We’re on a mission to help reverse climate change through regenerative food, and our cattle are key to this process.

Restoring native ecosystems and rebuilding soil health through data-backed management practices and carbon farming are the epicentre of Tas Ag Co. We’re repairing landscapes, restoring environmental health and creating a nutritious and sustainable food product for the modern day, conscious consumer.
Below are just some of the unique ways we farm which enable us to capture and store carbon.
Most conventional farms spray pesticides to control pests includes weeds and insects.
Pesticides disrupt soil microorganisms, the very life that drives soil carbon sequestration and, therefore, the heart of regenerative agriculture.
Multi-species plant crops, or our ‘salad bowl buffet’ as we call them!
They add variety to our cattle’s diet, improve soil health, and sequester carbon dioxide through photosynthesis.
Time controlled, rotational grazing.
Just like wild animals roam and never stay in one place for long, our cattle are moved to fresh pastures daily to ensure the soil and grass can recover.

Tas Ag Co was founded by us, husband and wife team Sam and Steph Trethewey. We run the business together side by side, with our little boy Elliot along for the ride!
Sam is a third generation Tasmanian farmer and entrepreneur who spent 15+ years working on farms and across cities in the startup, agtech and agribusiness space.
Steph grew up in Sydney and spent most of her career working as a television journalist across the country for Channel 7 and Channel 9.
With a joint passion for food, provenance and the environment, together, we launched Tas Ag Co to produce a unique eating experience for consumers and to challenge the food industry to do better.get in touch
